Reviewing a Bunch of MMORPGs in September 2024
Let’s continue on from last month’s article where we checked out 20 MMORPGs. Hopefully this month’s randomly selected titles are better, given last month had only 2 games that I could recommend and 3 others that I had fun playing but had serious issues preventing me from recommending. 13 from last month were either dead, mostly stolen, not actually MMORPGs or otherwise just rubbish.
Adventure Land: The Code MMORPG is developed by Kaan Soral. It has 86% positive reviews on Steam and was released in to Steam in 2019. Unlike many other MMORPGs which ban botting, this game is designed for botting. It utilizes a Javascript-like coding language for the player to automate player actions. There’s a lot of potential actions one can script into the game which offers considerable replay value.
The problems with this game are numerous though. The environments are quite boring, with the most generic landscapes and NPCs you’ll ever see in an MMORPG. Progression is mostly gear based and uses scrolls and RNG, with rate of failure increasing as level of gear desired increases. Items are destroyed upon failure. This just results in wasted time, gold, and frustration. The game also seems to be in maintenance mode. It’s luckily not abandoned, but it seems to be on life support. At $14.99, it’s tough to recommend this title given it’s state of development…
